The Crown Story
Crown Group has carved a reputation as a global property game changer. Its luxury apartment and hotel developments have become talking points worldwide, melding a futuristic vision of a new way of living with inspired architecture and the enviable Australian lifestyle.
The company was co-founded by architect Iwan Sunito (Urban Taskforce Property Person of the Year 2015) and engineer Paul Sathio in Sydney in 1996 and has a $5 billion pipeline spanning five cities and three continents.
Crown Group’s developments to date have changed the fabric of the cities in which they are located, adding new communities with inspired architecture and a desirable new way of life. These include the residential and hotel tower Arc by Crown Group, whose 56 white arches have literally transformed the Sydney skyline, and the 28-storey V by Crown Group in Parramatta.
Today, Crown Group has seven major developments underway in Australia, Indonesia and USA. In Sydney, the striking Infinity by Crown Group in Green Square; the lush and tropical Waterfall by Crown Group in Waterloo; the $500 million Japanese-inspired community, Mastery by Crown Group, developed with Mitsubishi Jisho Residences and Eastlakes Live by Crown Group, the Eastern Suburbs’ most exciting new address.
Crown Group has been recognised by more than 30 prestige awards including: 2018 Urban Development Institute’s Best Mixed-Use Development for V by Crown Group; 2017 Property Council of Australia’s One of the World’s Best Projects for Infinity by Crown Group; 2017 Master Builders Association Best Residential and Mixed-Use Development for Skye by Crown Group.
IWAN SUNITOFOUNDER & CEO DEVELOPMENT
Crown Group’s Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Iwan Sunito graduated from UNSW with Bachelor of Architecture (Hons) and Master of Construction Management, receiving the UNSW Eric Daniels award for Excellence in Residential Design in 1992.
Iwan’s accolades include Indonesia’s Property & Bank Magazine Golden Leadership Award 2013, The Congress of Indonesian Diaspora Entrepreneur award 2013 and regional award at the 2013 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards and the 2015 Urban Taskforce Property Person of the Year.
As a speaker, Iwan has been a special guest at The Bloomberg Economic Summit 2014, the 2013 UDIA Annual State Conference and the 2013 Global Congress of Indonesian Diaspora and The Property Congress in 2015.
Iwan was also honoured to be appointed a judge in the 2015 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
WAYNE TARANTODIRECTOR OF HOTEL & SUITES
Wayne Taranto has 26 years’ experience as a respected leader
in the vibrant Australian hospitality industry. His experience
spans a diverse portfolio of venues, restaurants, bars, hotels and
entertainment precincts in multiple countries. His undying passion
for exemplary presentation, service and consistency is pivotal to the
success of SKYE Hotel Suites.
Wayne honed his skills at Amalgamated Holdings Limited (now
known as Event Hospitality) operating Bobby McGees Sydney
at Darling Harbour. He also managed Rydges Hotels & Resorts’
Australian east coast properties. Wayne further evolved his culinary
expertise as Food & Beverage Director for the Australian Accor
Hotels network whilst managing hotels in the Sydney Olympic Park
precinct, Circular Quay and Sydney’s first five star hotel, The Sofitel
Wentworth.
Wayne is responsible for establishing Crown Group’s innovative
hotel division, SKYE Hotel & Suites. From inception through to
execution. Wayne has built a strong team of Sydney’s premier
service providers, redefining the boundaries of the 5-star luxury hotel
experience.
